Students, staff and neighbours are
invited to recycle unwanted clothes and shoes at our new textile recycling facility
called “Phil the Bank”. Phil arrived at Preston Montford on March 15th.
Phil the Bank recycles any unwanted clothes, bed linen,
towels, curtains and shoes into money to fund our eco improvements. They will
be reused and saved from landfill by being sold on in other countries. Preston
Montford will get paid 60p for 7 T-shirts or 2 jumpers or 2 pairs of trousers.
Last month’s lost property from our student visitors will raise us £1.50!
We will use any funds raised to inspire our visitors to
think environmentally – ideas so far include: buying materials to make bird and
bat boxes; improving our information about the natural history of the plants
and animals here; buying plants and tools for our new Incredible Edible garden;
buying a bike rack and shelter for our customers and many more….
The clothing bank is open for staff, visitors and neighbours to use. Please help us to fill our Bank with your unwanted textiles and shoes. If you wish to recycle please contact FSC Preston Montford reception in person or by phone. We will update our Phil-O- Meter regularly to let you know how well we are doing.
Phil is
open 8am – 5.30pm and is located in our courtyard.
